I am evilEd420, otherwise known as "The Songman"...
Welcome to my site, created as a showcase for the artistic
expression of myself and that merry band of creative souls to be forever known as "The Lyrically Challenged"...
Midnight Skies
Lightning flashes across a midnight sky
Thunder crashing, throat parched and dry
Nursing a headache and a bourbon, neat
Mind and heart frozen, I'm glued to my seat
High voltage charges thru the air all around me
I try hard to focus, thunder crashes profoundly
One has exactly, everything my life needs...
It's so clear in my head...but still my heart bleeds
Make the wrong choice, and my dreams could die here
But, you make bad decisions when living in fear
Love and good sense, often walk different paths
And struggling for clarity, more often distracts
I just want to be happy, and, make her happy too
Oh, Lord help this poor fool see what he should do

What now?
Well, what now, fool? so, where do you go from here?
Lost on the way to where? Don't know, path's unclear
You had to know it'd happen, you've sure been here before.
You can't pass thru the portal unless you've opened the door
Can't just ease into love, take it slow and protect your heart
Can't hold back a part of you, to lean on when the pain starts
Can't you learn to hold back a bit of yourself, and still keep it real
To put your faith in your good judgement, not "how good it feels"?
Brace yourself for the heartache, when she drops you flat on your face
Cause she's only playing with your love, you're a "rest-stop" in her race
When she's done with you she'll be gone, there you'll sit alone and lost
You gotta learn to protect your heart, keep it safe whatever the cost
You love the girl, and you want her, and your reasons are pure and true
That's good, my friend, but it means nothing if the lady doesn't want you
"Put it all on the line" and "risk it all", is fine when you are young and strong
But to put at risk, your heart, mind and soul right now can only be wrong
It takes so long for a tender heart to heal, and the pain will cut to the bone
It can shatter your world, squash your spirit, You're safer just staying alone
The lonliness that now drives you, and the empty longing for love that you hate
Could put your life in a tailspin send you whirling, right through hells front gate
Be careful, songman, go slowly, take care of your heart and watch what you do
The terrible longing for love can cut like a knife, but losing a love does too...

The Old Poodle
A wealthy lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her
faithful aged poodle along for the company.
One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long discovers
that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having
lunch. The old poodle thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep shit now!"
Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately
settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the
old poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?"
Hearing
this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees
"Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old poodle nearly had me!"
Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching
the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection. So
off he goes, but the old poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be
up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.
The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going
to happen to that conniving canine!" Now, the old poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks,
"What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he
hasn't seen them yet,and just when they get close enough to hear, the old poodle says: "Where's that damn monkey?
I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!"
Moral of this story.. Don't mess with old farts. Age
and cunning will always overcome youth and skill! Bullshit and brilliance only come with age and experience!

- SHOW ME THE WAY -
SOMETIMES I FIND HER SITTING, AND JUST LOOKING OUT THE DOOR
LIKE THERE WAS NO PLACE TO GO, NO REASON TO GO THERE ANYMORE
SHE'S MORE OF A WOMAN, INDEED, THAN MOST I'VE EVER KNOWN
WITH A SWEET SPIRIT, AND BOLD, REGRETTING SEEDS SHE HAS SOWN
AND THE WAY THAT SHE WAS RAISED, THE CHILDHOOD SHE NEVER HAD
A DOPED-UP HALF CONSCIOUS MAMA, AND IN PRISON, AN ABSENTEE DAD
ONLY GOD COULD HAVE GIVEN HER THE HEART, THE WILL TO STAND UP SO TALL
WHEN IT'S BEEN DO OR DIE SHE'S STOOD FIRM AND SIMPLY REFUSED TO FALL
SHE'S BEEN THROUGH SOME HELL, AND LIKE A WILLOW SHE'S BENT, NOT BROKE
FOUGHT HER WAY UP ONE HILL THEN ANOTHER, AND MANAGED NEVER TO CHOKE
SHE'S FOREVER STOOD TRUE AND SOLID, NEVER FAILED TO HOLD HER MUD
SWEET TO THE ONES IN THE MIDDLE, AND DROPPING THE REST WITH A THUD
I WISH SHE COULD JUST LET IT GO, THAT PAST SHE HAS WORN LIKE A SHIELD
BUT WITHOUT IT SHE'D FEEL TOO EXPOSED, LIKE A SOLDIER ALONE IN A FIELD
I'D GIVE ANYTHING JUST TO HELP HER, FIND HER WAY BACK IN FROM THE COLD
IN ALL MY LIFE I'VE NEVER FELT SO HELPLESS...SO GODDAMN USELESS AND OLD
OH, WHY COULDN'T I HAVE BEEN BORN LATER, A DECADE WOULD DO IT COMPLETE
I'D HOLD HER SO CLOSE TO MY HEART, AND SWEEP HER RIGHT OFF OF HER FEET
I'D NEVER LET HER FEEL LOST AND LONELY, NEVER GIVE HER TIME FOR REGRETS
NEVER LET HER LOOK BACK ON OUR LOVE, AND WONDER IF THAT'S ALL SHE GETS
DEAR GOD, IF I COULD CHANGE JUST ONE THING, ABOUT THE LIFE YOU GAVE TO ME
I'D SPEND ALL MY LIFE LOVING STACI, AND I'D MAKE SURE SHE ALWAYS LOVED ME
IN MY HEART THE SUN SHINES IN HER SMILE, DARKNESS FALLS WITH HER FROWN
WHEN SHE'S NEAR ME I'M SO HAPPY, WHEN SHE'S NOT I FEEL EMPTY AND DOWN
THE BEST I CAN BE IS TIED TO HER, AND JUST ISN'T THERE WHEN SHE'S GONE
I CAN'T SEE A WAY I COULD CHANGE IT, THIS WHOLE DAMN THING IS ALL WRONG
I'M AFRAID TO SHOW HER MY FEELINGS, FOR I FEAR IT MIGHT PUSH HER AWAY
I'D DIE IF I LOST STACI'S FRIENDSHIP, LOSE THE WILL TO LIVE ONE MORE DAY
I'M ASKING YOU FOR YOUR HELP, LORD, HELP THIS POOR FOOL SEE WHAT TO DO
MY SPIRIT IS SINKING FAST, LORD, AND MY LOST SOUL IS COUNTING ON YOU
